The IEEE Computer Society sponsors a` robust program of awards designed to recognize both technical achievement
and service to the society and the profession. In the technical area, recognition may be given for pioneering
and significant contributions to the field of computer science and engineering. Service awards may be given to
both volunteers and staff for well-defined and highly valued contributions to the society. The Awards Committee
must take care to preserve the integrity of the evaluation and selection process to assure that it is both open
and rigorous, and that it contributes to the prestige of the society and the award recipients.
